An extended guide on locks

Locks are primarily used to finish necklaces, bracelets, abdominal chains and ankle chains, but there are many different types of locks - so what is the difference between locks?

You can see our entire selection of locks here!

In this guide we review the different kinds of locks we have in the range, how they are mounted and which projects they are best for. When you close a necklace, it typically consists of two parts: a lock and one jump ring. You can read much more about the different types of wedgings and their features equal here!

An S-lock  is shaped like an "S" and has no locking mechanism. It works by catching the wedges with its hooks. The S-lock is suitable for necklaces that some weight so the locks do not go up, or bracelet that sits close to the skin so that the wedges cannot slip out of themselves. It requires two boxes to close an S -lock - one on each side that the lock can grab.

Carabiner locks Reminiscent of small carabiner hooks. They open by pressing a small pin and the lock opens inward. Carabine locks are typically elongated, as in the picture, but we also have some round models. The name "carabiner" derives from the mechanism that opens inward. The regular carabiner lock does not have a jump ring and therefore suitable for jewelry with tigerwire and clamping beads. They can also be used on chains but it requires that one be set jump ring As an intermediary between the chain and the lock.

Spring locks has a mechanism that pulls itself in. When you press the pin, the lock opens by hiding the small piece of metal that blocks the opening inside the lock itself. Spring locks can both having closed and open boxes at the bottom or none at all. If the spring lock has a soldered jump ring, It is suitable for jewelry with clamping beads and tigerwire. If, on the other hand, it has an open jump ring, it is suitable for chains as the LG can be mounted directly in the chain, which pairs an intermediate joint.

The bite lock consists of two parts and therefore does not require one jump ring To close. The lock works by passing a rod through the circle at a 90 degree angle. Then the stick is turned back to the horizontal position, which ensures that the lock is closed and does not open by itself. This type of lock is well suited for jewelry made with tigerwire and clamping beads, but can also be used with chains. This requires doget jump ring As an intermediary between the chain and the lock.
