An extended guide to pearl sticks

Pearl sticks are a perfect tool when you want to make your own jewelry, but what is a pearl stick? They can be used to make pendants of all beads pierced, or to finish a chain of several beads put together using 8's. There are different types of pearl sticks that we will review in this guide!

One Flat pearl stick Has, as the name indicates, a flat plate at the end that prevents the pearl from sliding off. It gives a discreet look that does not remove the focus from the beads you have chosen to use.

Pearl sticks with ball Has a small round ball at the end, which still gives a minimalist look, but which can also add the last little finish to your finished piece of jewelry.

In addition, there is Pearl sticks with motifs, such as stars, hearts or ornate bullets. These pearl sticks can create a unique expression where the pearl stick itself becomes part of the design.

Eventually there is Pearl sticks with eye, which are good at making chains consisting of several joints of pearls, or for making a rigid for a drilled pearl - this can be read more about here!

What you need to be aware of when choosing your pearl stick

When choosing a pearl stick for your jewelry, it is important that you consider the following:

  • What role does this part play in my finished jewelry?
  • How big is my pearl? Be sure to choose a pearl stick that is long enough to accommodate the pearl and that you have enough space left on the stick to work on.
  • How big is the hole in my pearl? Be sure to choose a pearl stick that is narrow enough to get through the hole on your gem. If you are in doubt about the hole size, a 0.5 mm thick pearl bar can basically fit most beads.

You can find our entire selection of pearl sticks here!

Good luck with the project, and good Krea-Lyst!
